Your garage, reimagined

What if your garage felt
as cared for as your home?

Maybe your garage works perfectly well, but it doesn’t feel like the rest of your home yet. Beyond protecting the concrete, a decorative flake floor gives you the opportunity to shape its look—from a calm neutral blend to a more distinctive color combination. A more practical floor, with a style you’re happy to come home to.

01 / LESS EVERYDAY UPKEEP

Spend less time cleaning.

A coated surface is easier to sweep and clean than bare, dusty concrete. Address spills promptly and follow the care instructions for your system.

02 / PROTECTION WITH PURPOSE

A floor ready for daily use.

The right system can help protect against stains and wear from vehicles, tools, and everyday garage activity.

03 / A FINISH THAT FEELS LIKE YOU

Make your garage your own.

Explore colors and flake blends that reflect your taste. Coordinate with your walls, cabinets, or vehicle, or choose a finish that gives the entire garage a fresh direction.

The foundation of our coating system

What makes epoxy an important part of your garage floor?

When you’re investing in a floor you’ll use every day, what sits underneath the finish matters. Epoxy is a two-component resin coating that cures when its resin and hardener are mixed. In CR Painting’s system, 4195 pigmented epoxy is applied to prepared concrete as the base coat.

It provides the bonding foundation and receives the decorative flakes while the base is still within its application window. We then finish the flake surface with a clear polyaspartic topcoat. Each material has a specific job in the same finished floor.

A BASE MADE FOR CONCRETE

Adhesion starts underneath.

4195 is a direct-to-concrete epoxy base. A properly assessed and prepared slab gives it the foundation it needs; a glossy topcoat cannot make up for preparation that the floor required.

COLOR WITH A PURPOSE

The base supports the look.

The pigmented epoxy and your chosen decorative flake blend work together to create the appearance. Flakes are broadcast into the base, then protected by the clear topcoat.

A COMPLETE FINISH

Epoxy below. Protection above.

We use epoxy for its role at the concrete and polyaspartic for the exposed protective finish. That’s why our recommendation considers the entire floor system, not just one coating name.

Quality, layer by layer

How do epoxy, flakes, and polyaspartic work together?

CR Painting uses 4195 epoxy against the prepared concrete, decorative flakes for the look, and a clear polyaspartic topcoat for the exposed protective finish. Together, they create one complete garage floor coating system.

01 / THE BONDING BASE

4195 direct-to-concrete epoxy

This pigmented epoxy is the base layer in our system. It bonds to the properly prepared slab and receives the decorative flakes. Its role is the foundation of the coating—not the final exposed finish.

02 / THE LOOK YOU CHOOSE

Decorative flake blend

Flakes are broadcast into the epoxy base to create the decorative appearance. The blend you select brings the color and character of the finished floor together.

03 / PROTECTION ON TOP

Clear polyaspartic topcoat

Applied over the flake layer, this clear coat helps protect the decorative finish from everyday wear and spills. We choose a UV-stable polyaspartic finish to help preserve its appearance where sunlight reaches the floor.

Wondering what your floor needs?

Let’s talk through its condition and the finish you have in mind.

The finishing layer matters

Why does CR Painting use a polyaspartic topcoat?

Because the surface you see and use deserves thoughtful protection. Our polyaspartic topcoat seals over the flakes, adds wear resistance, and provides a UV-stable exposed finish. The clear coating protects the decorative layer; it does not supply the flake pattern.

This is particularly relevant near an open garage door, where part of the floor receives sunlight. We focus on selecting compatible layers and preparing the floor correctly, rather than treating a coating name as a promise.

Understanding the comparison

How does it relate to polyurea?

Polyaspartic is a type of aliphatic polyurea chemistry. Products sold as “polyurea” vary: aromatic formulations can discolor in sunlight, while UV-stable aliphatic options also exist.

That’s why the specific formulation and its position in the system matter. CR Painting uses the polyaspartic topcoat described here, rather than offering a separate polyurea topcoat option.

Thinking about a driveway or another outdoor surface?

Sunlight is only part of the picture. We’ll review the slab, moisture, drainage, traction needs, and product suitability before recommending an exterior coating. Tell us about your space so we can assess it properly.

Find your finish

How would you like
your garage to look?

Your garage doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s. Choose a flake blend that feels right for you: understated and modern, warm and welcoming, or more expressive. The epoxy base and decorative flakes create the look, while the clear polyaspartic topcoat protects the finish. Care before the first coat

What goes into a quality garage floor coating?

A finish is only as dependable as the work beneath it. Our approach brings the condition of your concrete, the coating layers, and your day-to-day needs into the same conversation.

01

Listen & assess

We start with how you use your garage, what you’d like to improve, and the condition of your floor—including existing coatings, damage, and moisture concerns.

02

Prepare the foundation

Preparation and any agreed repairs come before the finish. We explain the work your slab needs and define the preparation and repair scope in your estimate.

03

Build the coating layers

4195 epoxy forms the base, flakes create the decorative look, and the clear polyaspartic topcoat provides the exposed protective surface.

04

Care for the finished floor

We explain curing and return-to-use timing, along with cleaning and care guidance, so you know how to look after your new floor.

Good preparation takes the time your floor needs. We’ll discuss a realistic schedule instead of promising the same turnaround for every slab.

Good questions. Clear answers.

What would you like to know before getting started?

From the layers beneath your feet to the day you can park again, we’re happy to explain the details. You don’t need to have everything figured out before calling.

Do I have to choose between epoxy and polyaspartic?

No. In CR Painting’s flake system, they work together: 4195 epoxy is the base coat on prepared concrete, decorative flakes are broadcast into that base, and clear polyaspartic is the protective topcoat.

Does the polyaspartic topcoat go directly on the concrete?

Not in the system CR Painting describes here. Our 4195 epoxy is the layer applied to prepared concrete. The clear polyaspartic topcoat goes over the decorative flake layer. Other manufacturers and installers may specify different systems.

Is polyaspartic the same as polyurea?

Polyaspartic is a type of aliphatic polyurea chemistry. “Polyurea” covers different formulations, so the names alone do not tell you how a product performs in sunlight. CR Painting selects a UV-stable polyaspartic topcoat.

How long does installation take, and when can I park?

Timing depends on preparation, repairs, temperature, moisture conditions, and curing requirements for every layer. A fast-curing topcoat does not mean the whole system is ready for vehicles immediately. We’ll discuss your installation schedule and confirm walking and parking times for your project.

Can you coat cracked or previously coated concrete?

It may be possible after assessing the slab. Existing coatings may need removal, and cracks or moisture concerns may require additional work. We’ll explain the preparation and repair scope; a coating does not correct structural movement or every moisture problem.

Will my garage floor be slippery when wet?

A coated floor can be slippery when wet or contaminated. We’ll discuss texture and traction needs based on how you use the space. Keep spills cleaned up and remember that no floor finish is slip-proof.

Can this coating system be used on a driveway?

An outdoor surface needs its own assessment. UV stability is useful, but the complete system also needs to suit the concrete, moisture conditions, drainage, traction needs, and vehicle use. Contact us about your driveway so we can discuss suitability before recommending a coating.

How should I maintain the finished floor?

Sweep away grit, clean spills promptly, and use the cleaner and cleaning method recommended for your coating. Follow the curing and maintenance guidance provided for your project, including any restrictions on harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning.

What does the free on-site estimate cover?

We review your location, garage size, existing floor condition, desired flake finish, and preparation needs. We then discuss the proposed scope, coating system, and schedule so you understand what is included before deciding.

Do you offer a warranty?

We’ll explain the warranty terms that apply to your proposed system, including coverage, exclusions, and maintenance requirements. Confirm those terms in your written project agreement.

Do you serve Tracy and nearby cities?
